Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, was also a storyteller, essayist, film critic, author of scripts and, above all, an intellectual committed to the great problems of our time, first with those that affected his beloved Colombia and Latin America in general. The greatest figure of magical realism, he was ultimately the maker of one of the densest narrative worlds of meaning given by the Spanish language in the twentieth century. Among his most important works are the novels One Hundred Years of Solitude , The Colonel has no one to write , Chronicle of a death announced ,The bad hour , The general in his labyrinth , Love in the times of cholera , Memory of my sad whores , the book of stories Twelve stories pilgrims , the first part of his autobiography, Live to tell it , and his speeches gathered, I do not I come to say a speech .
