وصف الكتابIn this book, Dr. Jala Amin sheds light on the development of the Egyptian economy over the past two centuries, from the beginning of Muhammad Ali's rule to the end of Mubarak's era, covering the periods of Said Pasha, Khedive Ismail, the occupation, and then the eras of Nasser, Sadat, and Mubarak. He attempts to explain the evolution of the economy over more than two centuries and draw important lessons from this long period of rise and fall, concluding that the periods of true renaissance for the Egyptian economy have always been, throughout the past two centuries, those in which Egypt enjoyed a reasonable degree of independence in will, allowing for a reasonable improvement in international conditions. Jala Amin is an Egyptian writer, critic, and thinker born in 1935. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Cairo University in 1955 and received his master's and doctorate degrees from the University of London. He served as a professor of economics at the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University (19651974) and as a professor of economics at the American University in Cairo from 1979 to 2011. He won the Sultan Al-Owais Award in the field of human and future studies in 2009. Among his works are: "What Happened to the Egyptians?", "The Age of the Masses", "The Age of Defaming Arabs and Muslims", "The Myth of Progress and Decline", "Egypt and the Egyptians in the Era of Mubarak", "What Life Taught Me", and "The Nectar of Life".
