Book DescriptionThis book provides everything readers need to know to teach an Adventure Racing unit at a school or to lead an Adventure Racing event in any environment and with any group of people. In a C.O.R.E. Adventure Race, students get into teams of 2, 3 or 4. They must stay in their teams while running through a course filled with challenges they complete in order to finish the race. Unlike most adventure races there is no need to have bicycles or kayaks for the race unless they are required for a specifically created challenge. Races can be made that require no equipment to create variety and obstacles that racers must complete can be changed from race to race as can the location. The most logical place for a C.O.R.E. Adventure Race is a track, but even if the school doesn't have one they can still set-up adventure races where students can race around fields, courts, the school or even the gym. The winners and finishers of races aren't always based on who crosses the finish line first. There are several different point systems that can be used to add spice to the races. The most athletic teams will not necessarily win or even finish the race.
