Features of Plugs and Sockets by Country

● Type A Plug and Socket

Type A plugs and sockets are used in Central and North America and Japan. These plugs and sockets, whose official name is NEMA 1, do not have a grounding line. Unlike Turkey, this system operates at 15 Amperes, 100-127 Volts and 60 Hertz. Keep in mind that the Hertz value, which is common in our country and Europe, is 50. 

● Type B Plug and Socket

Type B plugs and sockets, systems with a grounding line according to type A. That's why the number of teeth in this type of plug and socket is 3. These systems, whose official name is NEMA 5; It is frequently used in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Japan. Also, for your information, C, G, I, L and N plugs are not used in regions where type B sockets are common.

● Type C Plug and Socket

Type C plugs and sockets are common in Asia, Europe and South America. These plugs and sockets, which have 2 prongs, operate at 2.5 Amperes, 220-240 Volts and 50 Hertz. These plugs and sockets, whose official name is CEE 7/16, do not have a grounding line. This system, which consists of 2 teeth as standard, is not suitable for use with high voltage devices. It does not pose a problem for devices such as televisions, radios and chargers. 

● D Type Plug and Socket

This type of plugs and sockets are frequently used in India. These systems, which have a 3-prong plug, also have a grounding line. Plugs and sockets of this type operate at 5 Amperes, 220 – 240 Volts and 50 Hertz. In addition, D type plugs and sockets are also suitable for use with high voltage devices.

● M Type Plug and Socket

● N Type Plug and Socket

● O Type Plug and Socket

This type of plug and socket systems used in Thailand operate within the range of 16 Amperes, 220 - 240 Volts and 50 Hertz. This system, which has a grounding line, is also compatible with type C plug and socket systems.
