Book Description | The first thing a Muslim should focus on is everything that brings him closer to Allah, and one of the best means to achieve this is by understanding the religion of Allah, the Almighty. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever Allah wishes good for, He makes him knowledgeable in the religion." Imam al-San'ani stated: "This hadith clearly indicates the importance of understanding the religion and those who seek knowledge in it over other sciences and scholars, referring to the knowledge of the Quran and the Sunnah." Scholars and jurists have historically engaged in researching and discussing matters of knowledge to provide us with solid and established understanding. Among them is our esteemed scholar, Judge Sheikh Abdul Mohsen bin Nasir Al-Obaikan, may Allah protect him, who served as a judicial inspector at the Ministry of Justice and as an advisor in the royal court previously. He has dedicated himself to researching and verifying various issues in knowledge and has excelled in deriving and reasoning, especially with his holistic view of the objectives of legislation. He is truly not a follower who merely imitates, but rather seeks the truth as revealed to him by Allah, providing evidence and reasoning, responding to dissenters with the decorum befitting a scholar. His research is characterized by referencing the opinions of both early and later scholars, as well as the preferences of established researchers, along with precise deductions and contemplations on intricate matters. He also mentions legal and foundational principles, showcasing a distinctive ability to extract rulings from these and apply them to contemporary issues. Additionally, these studies are notable for their concise yet comprehensive nature, encapsulating the essence of the issues while avoiding unnecessary elaboration that lacks significant benefit. Let us allow our Sheikh, may Allah protect him, to express his thoughts: "When I noticed that many jurists, especially the followers of the imams, excessively delve into detailed issues based purely on distant reasoning that deviates from the foundational principles of analogy, leading to distraction for both the scholar and the student from focusing on the important matters based on evidenceas I highlighted in the issue of 'the ease of the Sharia'I sought the help of Allah and began to pinpoint the issues that people frequently need and to clarify the rulings therein, making the best use of precious time and facilitating the retention of important matters. I ask Allah for assistance, guidance, and understanding in the religion." |
