Book Description | A brand new lesson plans book in the relaunched, reformatted, Leapfrogs design, to help implement the swimming physical education curriculum for Key Stage 2 (KS2). Swimming is a compulsory part of the curriculum at KS2, and is often taught at KS1. Aimed at anyone involved in the teaching of swimming at primary school, from ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) qualified private swimming teachers to primary school teachers with and without experience of teaching swimming, and adults other than teachers, who assist with swimming lessons. The government's PE national strategy aims to increase the minimum PE time to 2 hours per week, including swimming at KS2. Teachers are often scared of teaching swimming, and this easy to use book written by an expert in the field will be invaluable. Primary school teachers are often asked to teach swimming with little or no experience, especially with large classes/mixed ability groups, where ASA qualified teachers are not able to supervise the whole class at one time. |
Editorial Review | With advice on everything from lesson plans and activities to even arranging transport, there's no excuse for teachers and coaches not to dive in and give this book a dip.' School Sport (September/October 2007) |
