In 1165, a ship arriving from the city of Acre docked at Alexandria, carrying the sage and philosopher Moses Maimonides. His final destination was Fustat after he fled with his family from the religious persecution of Jews in Andalusia to several countries. In the city of Fustat, Moses became one of the greatest and most famous doctors and philosophers in the Arab and Western worlds. His works were translated into all languages, and students of knowledge from around the world flocked to his scholarly sessions. Despite this, he and his works faced much distortion, fabrication, and hatred from his own people. Was this due to his influence from Muslim philosophers, which strongly appeared in many of his writings, especially his most important work, "The Guide for the Perplexed"? And what is the secret behind the disappearance of the original manuscript from the library of the Temple of Moses Maimonides after his death? The events of the novel "Night Train to Tel Aviv" revolve around three main themes. Perhaps there is no direct connection between them, yet they are interlinked in one way or another through complex relationships and intertwined events with extended roots. All of this raises questions that the novel answers for some while leaving others open to truths that remain unresolved to this day, and perhaps will never be. |
