Book Description | During the restoration of the "Bir al-Watawi't Inn" adjacent to the "Ahmad Ibn Tulun Mosque" in the "Sayeda Zainab" district, diaries dating back to 1865 are discovered, buried behind a wall in room number seven on the third floor of the inn, and preserved in good condition. The diaries, from number "34" to "53," are published without deletion or revision, and are the only diaries suitable for publication. They document the experiences of the death photographer "Suleiman Effendi al-Suyufi" in the years prior to the establishment of an organized police force when he was commissioned to investigate the circumstances surrounding the gruesome death of a Pasha. With his inherited expertise in crime scene analysis, "Suleiman Effendi" discovers that the death was due to deliberate murder and that the perpetrator left a memorial with the victim. He soon realizes that this crime is just the first in a series of assassinations, which he intuitively understands will ultimately lead to his own demise. |
