| Book Description | PREFACE TO THE 26th REVISED EDITION The first edition of this book was published in Oct. 1973, when there did not exist any Indian book on the subject of Hydrology, and the subject itself used to get a very low weightage in the civil engineering curriculum. The times have, however, largely changed since then, and almost every engineering college has now prescribed a separate paper on the subject, thereby giving it, its due weightage, which was being advocated by this author, from the very beginning. Although the author was a fresh graduate with hardly 4 years of professional experience in 1973 when he wrote this book, yet the book was accepted and appreciated by the learned professors of the various engineering colleges as well as by the student community, with enthusiastic response. The content matter of the book and its size have however, undergone vast changes during the intervening years.
