Perhaps one of the factors contributing to the "appeal" of suicide notes is that at some point, we find ourselves sharing the same feelings with those who take their lives. This becomes evident when we read their letters. Who among us can deny that Van Gogh's last message, "The sadness will last forever," resonates within us every time we read it? And how many of us, upon reading Dalida's letter: "Forgive me. Life has become unbearable," have been struck by a painful thought that made us echo the phrase, "Indeed, life has become unbearable"? In this book, we read together eight suicide notes, exploring the lives of the individuals and their messages. This is not only for literary exploration but also to learn from mistakes, to be admonished by their experiences, and to benefit from the notes penned by those who departed just before their unfortunate decision to leave life. |
