Using slow breathing helps strengthen the respiratory muscles. Patients expand their chest wall better by slowly inhaling the ball, allowing the intercostal muscles to expand outward. This prevents a decrease in alveolar ventilation and increases lung capacity to enhance lung expansion and coughing ability, preventing mucus buildup.
By using the training device to inhale air, the external intercostal muscles and diaphragm contract, enlarging both the anteroposterior and superoinferior diameters of the chest. As the chest expands, the lungs expand as much as possible to increase lung capacity, aiding in lung function recovery.
How long should each breathing exercise last?
For inhalation or exhalation training, each session consists of 5-10 cycles, with each inhalation or exhalation exercise lasting 10-15 minutes, three times a day. The total duration of inhalation or exhalation should not exceed 30 minutes each session.
Rest for a few seconds after completing each respiratory exercise, then repeat the cycle, or follow the doctor's advice.
