Viktoria Boiling Method One package (10 Gr.) Viktoria Fabric Dye, 200 Gr. It dyes the fabric perfectly. 1. To determine how much dye is needed, weigh the item to be dyed on a food scale or estimate the weight. Generally, one packet of VICTORIA FABRIC DYE will dye 200 grams of dry fabric. If you are trying to achieve a much darker color when painting, double the dye proportion. 2. If you are in doubt about whether your fabric will accept the dye or achieve the color you want, we recommend testing a color swatch first. 3. Remove stains from the garment before dyeing. This will help achieve uniform color results when painting. Wash the prewash with warm, soapy water. This helps remove any surfaces that may interfere with paint absorption. 4. Cover the area around the stove with a plastic tablecloth and have paper towels handy to protect against possible spills. 5. Wear rubber gloves to protect hands from staining and insulate them when working with hot water. 6. Fill a stainless steel pot with enough quantity to allow the fabric to move freely. Cover the pot on the stove and warm water to just below boiling (95°C or greater). 7. To enhance color: (1) add a cup of salt when dyeing fabrics containing cotton, rayon, ramie or linen; (2) Add a glass of vinegar when dyeing fabrics containing nylon, silk or wool. Add 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid to support level dyeing. 8. When the water begins to boil, add dye and mix well. 9. Wet the item you will dye and add it to the dye bath. 10. Stir gently and constantly. The first 10 minutes are the most critical. Blending helps ensure an even color without leaving stains. 11. The item can remain in the dye bath for 10 minutes to an hour. Leave the fabric in the dye bath for at least 30 minutes to ensure full color absorption. Nylon tends to dye much faster and much darker than other fibers, so the time needed in the dye bath is less. 12. Once the desired color is achieved, remove it from the dye bath. The fabric will appear darker when wet and will lighten slightly as it dries. Squeeze out excess paint. 13. Rinse in lukewarm water and then gradually cool the water until the rinse water becomes clear. 14. Wash in warm water with a mild detergent, rinse and dry.
