About the AuthorJohn Harrison lives with his wife Val in a small cottage on a hillside in North Wales. They have a busy but contented life, growing much of their own food in the garden. They enjoy their own home-made bread often with home-made butter and jam. They keep poultry who provide them with fresh eggs and meat. John's passion is growing fruit and vegetables, Val's is cooking and preserving which means they complement each other's strengths. In these times of austerity, they enjoy a great quality of life and a good standard of living, without spending money they don't have. Both learned their life lessons from parents and grandparents who lived through the real austerity and shortages of the war.
