Book DescriptionPraise be to God, who bestowed upon us the grace of knowledge and faith, and prayers and peace be upon His Messenger, the teacher of humanity, Muhammad bin Abdullah, his family and companions, and peace be upon him, and those who adhere to his gift until the Day of Judgment and after. Those who take their first steps in the field of economics. Since the subject of the book deals with macroeconomics, including the variables that affect the life of every individual in society, such as consumption, production, investment, inflation, stagnation, growth, development, currency exchange rate systems, etc., the analysis and interpretation of these topics will be specified. - God willing - those who need to know these principles in their specialties. This is in addition to the fact that the use of real examples from the Saudi economy in the sites that require this allows the reader to easily link between the theoretical material and the practical and applied reality. This book has been prepared to study for students of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences in order to give them a broad base of macroeconomic principles. The period of teaching this book enabled me to find out the opinions of my fellow faculty members in the Department of Economics, which were useful in developing the book's topics. As well as looking at students' impressions and the extent of this book's service in delivering information to them. I may refer here to an important point that may need clarification for the Arab reader, which is the use of English symbols in equations. I chose this method of presentation because the book deals primarily with economic theories developed in English-language literature. I made sure to use these English symbols to facilitate the specialized student to continue studying the topics of the book in external books that use the same symbols, because the lack of standardization of the Arabic symbols used in books written in the economy in the Arabic language poses a difficulty for the student when using them. This book contains fourteen chapters, the first chapter of which deals with an explanation of some basic concepts that students of economics are exposed to, whether in this book or in other specialized books. In the following chapters, from the second to the fifth, we review the concept, measurement and determination of the level of domestic income (product), while the sixth and seventh chapters deal with consumption theory and investment theory, respectively. In the eighth chapter, we present and analyze the concept of money and its role in economic activity. In the ninth chapter, we present the role of banks in the national economy, then in the tenth chapter we deal with inflation, and in the eleventh chapter we present the study of fiscal and monetary policies, while the twelfth chapter presents the subject of growth and economic development. In Chapters Thirteen and Fourteen, we deal with foreign trade, the balance of payments and the exchange rate. At the end of each chapter, we have highlighted the most important basic concepts that the reader has passed, and we have put a number of remedial questions for the student. In the beginning and not the end, I hope that every reader of this book will not skimp on me with his opinions, whether with regard to topics or with regard to the style of presentation. Participation in opinion is required. I am pleased to extend my thanks to fellow faculty members of the Department of Economics, College of Administrative Sciences, King Saud University, who taught the book and provided their opinions and suggestions. I also extend my thanks to the brothers: Muhammad Hassan, Ali Abdel Salam and Mr. Abdel Razek, for their efforts in printing, reprinting and organizing the contents of the book to come up with this picture. And thanks first and foremost to God Almighty for His innumerable blessings, and I pray to Him to help us to do what is good and correct. God grants success,
