وصف الكتابArguably one of Jack London's most determined characters, Martin Eden's obsessive desire to not only write but to be published is unsurpassed in contemporary literature. Falling in love out of his own class, Martin Eden pursues a career as a young writer to win the affections of Ruth Morse. A social blot onto the upper-class Morse household, Martin Eden strives to gain the class distinction he desires and by that the affections of his love - Ruth Morse. But when his efforts have produced little or no result, Ruth's mother, the matriarch of the powerful Morse industries destroys the young love and Martin Eden in the process. He is seen as crude and unrefined, but when a book sells, then another and another, Martin Eden is now the prized catch of any social gathering. Sending Ruth back now to recapture their engagement, Martin is now disillusioned by his misplaced love and his efforts to have pursued it.
عن المؤلفAbout the author: David O'Neill's latest written and produced work is 2010's foreign language feature film, The Black Tulip. The film was shot entirely on location in Kabul Afghanistan during the turbulent 2010 presidential election. Finishing post- production at Warner Brothers, The Black Tulip was presented the Lion Cub Award at the Venice film festival. The film went on to be officially recognized by the Afghanistan Film Commission as its official 2011 Academy Awards submission for Best Foreign Language Film as well as winning best feature film for its European Premiere at the Salento International Film Festival in Italy. David began his screenwriting career some fifteen years ago when his first screenplay, Jack London's period drama, "Martin Eden," was purchased by Academy Award Winning, Panorama Film's International, Just Betzer. O'Neill would then write and adapt three more critically acclaimed works for Mr. Betzer's Panorama Film, i.e., William Wharton's Last Lovers. (Birdy, Dad, Once Upon a Midnight Clear), Hans Lembourne's Marilyn and ultimately, the English version of Betzer's own, prized Academy Award Winning Babette's Feast. (Isaak Denison - Out of Africa) Completing the slate for Panorama, Santa Monica Studios found O'Neill right for their company's long anticipated passion piece, Lady Godiva. David partnered with Santa Monica Studios for two years while he executed and completed the medieval period action-adventure love-story. His drafts were ultimately novelized and released world-wide through Whittaker Publishing. www.crosswindfilms.com Directors1@mindspring.com
