وصف الكتابAbout the Arab House for Science Publishers and in collaboration with the Differences Publishing House, the well-known Algerian novelist "Bachir Mufti" has released his new masterpiece "The Doll of Fire". This time, however, we are facing a true tragedy in which the novelist unlocks closed doors in the dark corridors of his country's experiences during the 1970s and 1980s. The novelist encounters the hero of his novel, "Mr. Redha Chaouch", in 1985, when "the explosion that shook the entire country occurred, and I had just completed my university studies as strange assassinations began to happen among intellectuals, followed by news of explosions occurring everywhere on this land." Perhaps "Bachir Mufti" here is shaping his personal experience in confronting dependency and cultural independence to present to the reader the unfolding of events in their historical and community movements and the construction of their own being in light of the various influences that place the narrator in confrontation with the structures of political and social power. This presents a combative mission for Arab creators, as the political events accompanied by misery, social disintegration, and the loss of Arab youth writers have placed them before a responsibility to break away from the prevailing ideological discourse, to give voice to their silenced selves, and to engage with the realities and complexities of their contexts. In this novel, the hero-narrator shares his personal story upon being surprised by a manuscript he receives ten years after "Redha Chaouch" disappeared and the war ended, or paused for a certain period, as he states: "When the mail brought me an envelope containing a manuscript with a short message that read: Dear novelist Bachir M., this manuscript reaches you while I am perhaps in another world, not necessarily death, though I do not exclude that, and it contains what I promised you, the manuscript that I wrote as a record of my life. This is my story in all its black letters, and its extraordinary alphabet. It is my story that I lived and imagined, and it is my memory that I crafted and shaped me at the same time, and I sincerely hope that you write your name at the top of its pages and attribute it to yourself so that for you it becomes a horrifying tale that people see as an undeniable truth. Although, through what I have lived, I can no longer distinguish between what is fiction and reality, what is real and what is a dream. Thank you for your understanding, farewell. Redha Chaouch." The novelist adds: "I let his voice tell his story as he wrote it, in his own words, wishing that the man were alive and that he would read his book just as he left it, without any changes or retouching." Undoubtedly, the essence of the novel is an attempt to articulate the past. the struggle of human beings, or rather, the struggle of the powerful, and the lack of courage to defy the realities of circumstances that burden the weak and how a person can become someone else. Redha Chaouch says: "So I found myself becoming another person, filled with other things, new blood. the blood of others from whom I absorbed their spirit, their innocent spirit to live. I became evil, and the doll of evil, I became the devil, and the doll of the devil. I became that blazing and raging fire, the burning and wild fire, just like the doll of fire that burns anyone who holds it. I became nothingness, devoid of any meaning, and I will only live when I can drain the blood of the innocent I face. They a
