عن المؤلف | Mr. Kavanagh's education and professionalbackgrounds include a B.A. (Economics) from York University (Toronto) in 1970 and certification through the challenge exam process as a Civil Engineering Technologist (Ontario), and as a Survey Technologist (Ontario). His surveyingexperience includes seventeen years ofhighway, legal and construction surveys as well as the management of municipal surveys for pre-engineering, design, and construction of municipal services for the City of Scarborough.
Mr. Kavanagh's teaching experience began in 1969 at Seneca College where he designed and taught courses in surveying, computerized/advanced surveying, municipal services design and highway design. In addition he served as Chair of the Civil/Resources Engineering Technology Department (1987-1990), which at its peak had 400 students and 20 faculty.
In 1983, along with S.J.G Bird (deceased 1989), he wrote a textbook on surveying (Surveying Principles and Applications)and in 1989, he wrote a second text (Surveying with Construction Applications). Both texts, published by Pearson Education/Prentice Hall Inc., USA, have been adopted for use in Civil Engineering programs and Civil Engineering Technology programs in the U.S.A., with wide use also in Canada and some off-shore locations (for example, Singapore, & U.K.).Additionally, in 2003 he wrote the text Geomatics, for post-secondary Geomatics programs.
Mr. Kavanagh is presently (May, 2008) working on the 8th edition of Surveying Principles and Applications and on the 7th edition of Surveying with Construction Applications. |
