Sow in 20 rows or 4 inches/inch of shallow flat seeds in the spring or about 8 weeks before transplanting outdoors at a depth of 1/4". When possible, keep the soil temperature at 80-90 °F (27-32°C). Pepper seeds germinate very slowly in colder soil. When the first true leaves appear, transplant the seedlings into 2" cell-type containers or 4" pots. At approximately 70° F (21°C) one day and 60°F (16 °C) night. When the soil is warm and the weather is stable, transplant after frost. Ideal seedlings have buds but no blooming flowers. Separate the plants by 12 -18 inches, 24-36 inches per row, or 18 inches with paper covering between two rows of poly/plants. When they reach their maximum size, please pick the first pepper immediately to encourage further fruiting. Wash and keep at 45°F (7°C) and 95% relative humidity.
