Editorial Review | "'Larger than life characters leap from the pages of this engaging and humorous story for lower juniors' Junior Education 'Dick King-Smith is surely the master of the animal story.....charming and humorous tale...shows why Dick King-Smith is such a favourite with so many young readers.' News and Reviews (BFs) 'An unusual theme that gives rise to a great deal of humour.... The illustrations are jaunty and the writing uncluttered and unsentimental' Nursery world 'Dick King-Smith at his best: an ingenious account of the way rabbits got to Australia. Don't be deceived by its apparent simplicity: it stands reading and re-reading, and each time you chuckle at something different' The Independent Weekend" |
About the Author | Dick King-Smith was born and raised in Gloucestershire, England, surrounded by pet animals. After twenty years as a farmer, he turned to teaching and then to writing children's books. Dick wrote mostly about animals: farmyard fantasy, as he likes to call it, often about pigs, his special favorites. He enjoyed writing for children, meeting the children who read his books, and knowing that they get enjoyment from what he does. Among his well-loved books are Babe: The Gallant Pig, which was made into a major motion picture and was nominated for an Academy Award. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title. |
