The three-volume Controversy is perhaps the last great systematic work in the history of philosophy, and undoubtedly one of the most important works in 20th century philosophical literature. |
| About the Author | Roman Ingarden (1893-1970) was an outstanding Polish philosopher, student of Husserl in Goettingen, and professor at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow since 1946. Ingarden was the author of numerous works in aesthetics and theory of literature; however, his major contribution to philosophy is the ontological treatise Controversy over the Existence of the World. |
