ABOUT:
The Yak-15 is arguably one of the most underrated aircraft in the game. Although the stat card reveals performance and armament that could be considered "subpar", the Yak-15 is a fighter that is both unique and deadly. Unlike their propeller-driven counterparts, these first-generation jet aircraft have the ability to retain energy in a straight line, whereas propeller-driven aircraft will gradually lose speed. This, combined with its good traverse speed, allows the Yak-15 to defend itself against both propeller-driven and jet-powered aircraft; This is what it would normally encounter in all game modes. The major faults of the Yak-15 include a low top speed, poor acceleration, poor armor protection, the inability to restart the engine below 270 km/h (170 mph), and the use of this aircraft in bulk. It has a small ammunition pool, making it even more difficult than other early aircraft. Generation jet aircraft such as He 162 A-2, Meteor F. Mk.3 and F-80A-5. Although powered by a jet engine, it is important to recognize the faults and quirks of this series of aircraft, as they do not represent the traditional "jet fighter" at all. The Yak-15 is most easily seen as a late-war Yak-3 powered by a jet engine and a different armament.
