Book DescriptionOver 80,000 copies of previous editions are sold worldwide. This work is designed as a course text for students in fitness and sport and exercise science, as well as a reference for fitness professionals and personal trainers preparing for certification. Formerly titled "Health Fitness Instructor's Handbook", this full-colour text has a new title to reflect its extensive use in the field. Each chapter has been updated with the latest standards, guidelines and research, allowing readers to fully explore current issues. It includes new and expanded information on: screening clients, assessing muscular fitness, strength and endurance training, preventing lower back pain and interpreting nutritional guidelines. New chapter on yoga, Pilates, tai chi and other mind-body exercises are included. Readers will learn how to apply the information to special populations, including children and older adults, as well as those with chronic diseases or specific conditions such as pregnancy.
Editorial ReviewA compendium that you will be dipping into frequently. As reference books for fitness instructors go, this one just has to be topping the list. FitBody Magazine" (review from previous edition)
