Book Description | How to Win Friends and Influence People is a 1936 self-help book written by Dale Carnegie. Over 30 million copies have been sold worldwide, making it one of the best-selling books of all time. Carnegie had been conducting business education courses in New York since 1912. |
Editorial Review | Dale Carnegie is not only a well-known author of many best-selling books but an institution within himself. This book has been languishing on my bookshelf from years and I can’t believe I had been ignoring this treasure. Each page is packed with years of wisdom and learnings. The writing style is such that the ideas feel very practical and doable. This self-help book about communication and character-building has a lot to teach provided one keeps practicing the principles. The thing that I loved about this book is how Carnegie himself constantly kept experimenting with the methods to learn and produce the best for us. He lists out principles and teaches us how to use them in daily life. He accentuates the fact how rather than trying to improve others, we can work on ourselves and bring out the best version of ourselves, which will indirectly help everyone around us. The literal meaning of the title, according to me is how to be an effective communicator who believes in a win-win situation in any scenario. |
