Editorial Review | Faye Doris; Academic Lead, Midwifery; University of Plymouth This is an absolute requirement for all students of Midwifery and for support staff such as secretaries and Programme Administrators. It is a useful size, clearly set out with good use of illustrations. The contracting colour of the text is pleasant to the eye. 3rd Year Midwifery Student, University of Worcester I find the dictionary of midwifery easy to understand and well-laid out, with a large amount of relevant material. The points give a definition and often other information which can then be further researched. From this point of view I do feel it would be useful to some as a revision material, as the individual definitions would act as a prompt, but I would not use it in this way.? I find the diagrams particularly useful. They are very clear and defined, and give an enhanced understanding to the definitions provided. Although listed in alphabetical order, it is sometimes time consuming to flick through attempting to find the right definition. Perhaps sub-sections such as labour and birth etc, would make this easier? I feel that this book would be of particular use to those in their first year, when first hearing unfamiliar midwifery terms which could then be looked up in the dictionary. The book is small and light enough to be carried around en-route.? |
