Book Description | The ladybug initiates change when it is needed the most. In spite of its size, it appears to be fearless. Its presence, often associated with luck and the enabling of love and protection against harm, is also a pest intuitively focused on its task... LADYBUG is a passionate and psychologically vigorous debate between head and heart, reality and the ideal. Cara a cara with social stigmas, cultural undercurrents, crafty rhetoric and a sober understanding of the human condition, it remains however charmingly resilient and steadfast to the sensitive truths it lives by. Unable to make one feel indifferent to what the small but mighty definition of friendship is all about. Review by K.C. Finn for Readers' Favorite, 5 stars: This is a slow read, but those ... willing to explore the journey at such a pace are indeed rewarded by its immersive storytelling and masterful use of language. Overall, I would highly recommend Ladybug as a thought-provoking work of fiction that hits on sensitive subjects that we all must face at some time or another. An accomplished work from a philosophically minded author. Review by Rabia Taveen for Readers' Favorite, 5 stars: Ladybug is as entertaining as it is thought-provoking. I enjoyed the flow of the story, how the reader gets a quick yet profound glimpse into the life and mind of Michèle before she takes you deeper into the conflict she and Charlie are trying to break from. You will find yourself asking questions and then, after a couple of chapters, you will answer them yourself. This is a story that will be enjoyed by readers of Hemingway and Fitzgerald. Ladybug is modern literature at its best! |
Editorial Review | K.C. Finn, for Readers' Favorite: 5 Stars: Ladybug is a work of fiction written in the literary style by author CJ. Michaels. This intriguing novel is written for mature audiences due to the thematic content and the presence of some moderate language usage and sexual situations. Focused primarily on themes such as actions based on emotion versus those based on logic, the effects of social and cultural factors on the way that people perceive themselves and the truths they live by, results is a slow burning and intimate exploration of resilience and personality that pushes against the tide. The metaphor of the Ladybug carries throughout the tale as this moniker of strength, and I admired the author's use of imagery and figurative language throughout, crafting ideas and connotations that build to subtle but very grand ideas as the story progresses. This is a slow read, but those who are willing to explore the journey at such a pace are indeed rewarded by its immersive storytelling and masterful use of language. Overall, I would highly recommend Ladybug as a thought-provoking work of fiction that hits on sensitive subjects that we all must face at some time or another. An accomplished work from a philosophically minded author. |
