Book SubtitleA Casebook And Can-Do Guide
Book DescriptionBringing together library and information science faculty and practicing library managers, this work combines some of the most exciting concepts and methodologies of library evaluation with the practical experiences of those working in the field. A variety of approaches (e.g., focus groups, TQM) are thoroughly described, then illustrated with actual case studies. These cases can serve as inspiration and models to library managers and other individuals responsible for evaluation, as well as to those who aspire to library management positions.
Editorial ReviewAs one who teaches a course on the evaluation of library and information resources and services, I will be adding this book to my list of reading. I recommend it to library managers and others who are responsible for evaluation- an activity that cannot be neglected in this age of tight financial resources and accountability.?-Journal of Academic Librarianship ?It would likely be of particular interest to library and information science students in library management courses.?-Colorado Libraries ?Quality resources are scarce, especially those providing practical applications and theoretcially sound library evaluation tools. Library Evaluation: A Casebook and Can-Do Guide fills this void in the professional literature by providing the perfect mix of conceptual overviews and pragmatic case studies ...Addressing the needs of library students, library science teaching faculty, and practicing library managers, this work combines some of the most critical concepts and methodologies of library evaluation with practical case experiences from those working in the field. ...In summary, this book is highly recommended for all librarians and others interested in utilizing evaluation to demonstrate the value of libraries in our societies and organizations, and it is highly recommended as an additional textbook for library instructors.?-portal: Reviews ?Wallace and Van Fleet succeed in familiarising readers with the purpose and process of evaluation by focussing on specific projects that have actually been carried out successfully. Readers are then able to undertake evaluation projects which will provide direct evidence of the value of libraries- explaining what they do and what impact they have on the future. This casebook, with its inspirational can-do principles, provides a useful guide for library managers needing to implement evaluation projects.?-The Australian Library Journal ?Highly recommended.?- Business Information Alert ?Highly recommended.?-Business Information Alert ?Highly recommended.??Business Information Alert "As one who teaches a course on the evaluation of library and information resources and services, I will be adding this book to my list of reading.
