ABOUT:

The aircraft was designed in 1941 as Messerschmitt project P.1073 and was initially designed as a cheap and simple escort fighter, to be towed up by either a Heinkel He 177 heavy bomber or a Junkers Ju 388 using a semi-rigid rod (Deichselschlepp). It was also considered for towing auxiliary wing fuel tanks) or carried on the Me 264 in a Mistel-type form.
