Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award Commemorative Coin - 2024

OverviewThe Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates has released a commemorative coin in honor of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award. The obverse of the coin Includes the image of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, With His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, Patron of the Award with the name and the 12th edition of the award in Arabic and English. The reverse of the coin It includes the Emblem of the UAE and the name of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates in Arabic and English in addition to the value of the coin of 50 Dirhams. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award was launched in 2008 and is one of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum global initiatives.” The award was established to reflect the thoughts and philosophy of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him”. This award aims to honor and encourage individuals, teams and institutions that have contributed to the enrichment of the sports movement to motivate them to further achievements and creativity at the level of the UAE, the Arab region and the world. Over the first 11 editions of the award, a total of 258 winners from UAE, the Arab world, and beyond have been recognized across the award categories: individual, group, and institutional sports creativity, for their contributions in diverse fields of sports. Among the recipients were outstanding Olympic and international athletes, alongside national and international sports federations and Olympic committees that have spearheaded initiatives aimed at promoting sports and facilitating community participation. Additionally, the award has also acknowledged talented young athletes of both genders, as well as champions in the "People with Determination" category. In January 2024, the winners of the different categories of the 12th edition of the award will be honoured, as well as the best projects, programmes and creative initiatives that contribute to empowering communities through sport and confirm that sport is a universal language and a soft power with influence in shaping the future.
