The vastness and variety of tattooing around the world is chronicled in the book's 700+ images, including the indigenous tattooing of the MÄori and South Pacific islanders, the ancient traditions of Asia, and the origins of old-school Western tattooing in Europe and the United States. The book also features a dozen original illustrations by Schiffmacher in his inimitable style, as well as a personal introduction describing Schiffmacher's own journey as both an artist and a collector that has shaped his view of the art's journey from the underground to the mainstream. | About the Author | Henk Schiffmacher, artista e historiador del tatuaje afincado en Ãmsterdam, es una leyenda viva en el mundo del tatuaje. Schiffmacher, que lleva desde la década de 1970 viajando por todo el mundo, ha reunido una de las mayores colecciones de objetos contemporáneos e históricos del universo del tatuaje, llamada Schiffmacher Tattoo Heritage. Ha tatuado a muchas estrellas del rock y del pop, y su estudio atrae a incontables devotos del tatuaje. Director y escritor, ha publicado más de veinte libros, entre los cuales se encuentra el tÃtulo de TASCHEN 1000 Tattoos, y ha realizado diseños para muchas marcas.
