Book Description | Do you want to be able to fit and tune programmable engine management, working from home. You can, This book covers the selection, wiring and tuning of programmable ECUs, all done without access to a dyno and with a totally hands-on approach. From the step-by-step of tuning idle, throttle enrichment and high- and low-loads, to tuning for best fuel economy. Mapping exhaust gas recirculation for better throttle response, to safely retarding ignition timing with increased intake air temps. PID tuning loops explained in easy to understand language, directly measuring the crank reference indicator position, and how Lambda numbers relate to air/fuel ratios - they're all here. And if you're just starting out in this area, there's also coverage of the fundamentals of engine management systems. There's even a cheap and incredibly effective tool that you can build so that you can hear when the engine is detonating - or even close to detonating. This compact book is must-have for anyone tuning programmable ECUs. |
About the Author | Julian Edgar started his working life freelancing for photography magazines. He edited a national Australian automotive print magazine before becoming editor of AutoSpeed, an online car magazine. Along the way he wrote extensively for Silicon Chip, an electronics hobbyist magazine, while contributing articles to technical and automotive publications in Australia, the UK and the US. He has fitted and tuned programmable management, working solely from a home workshop. He has also used plug-in programmable ECUs and interceptors, and has been instrumental in developing electronic car modification products and kits. Julian lives in a hamlet 80 kilometres north of Canberra, Australia. He spends much of the week playing in his home workshop - for the rest of the time, he works for a company providing training in high-level writing skills.Books by the author: 21st Century Performance, Clockwork Media, 2000 High Performance Electronics for Cars, Silicon Chip Publications, 2004 (co-authored with John Clarke) Amateur Car Aerodynamics Sourcebook, CreateSpace, 2013 Inventors and Amateur Engineers Sourcebook, CreateSpace, 2013 Home Workshop Sourcebook, CreateSpace, 2013 DIY Car Electronic Modification Sourcebook, CreateSpace, 2013 DIY Testing of Car Modifications, CreateSpace, 2013 Tuning Programmable Engine Management, CreateSpace, 2014 Hybrid and Electric Cars Amateur Sourcebook, CreateSpace, 2014 Thoughts about Driving, Car Modifications and Life, CreateSpace, 2014 DIY Suspension Development, CreateSpace, 2015 Read more |
