While poor long-term outcomes of arthroplasty have led to an increasing dependence on procedures to conserve the native hip, preservation surgery may maintain or protect a hip and prevent or delay the need for arthroplasty. | About the Author | Dr K. Mohan Iyer did his MCPS (1971) from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai, India; MBBS (1971) from the University of Mumbai; DOrth. and FCPS Orth. (1975) from the College of Physicians and Surgeons; MS Orth. (1978) from the University of Mumbai; and M. Ch. Orth. (1981) from the University of Liverpool, UK. During this time, he wrote three theses on fractures of the patella, excision arthroplasty of the elbow, and excision of the trapezium for carpometacarpal arthritis of the thumb. |
